| Description |
| First, let me say that I am very definitely a sailboat fan! However, when the time comes for me to give up my beloved ketch, this is just about the only powerboat I would consider as any sort of replacement! A very well-thought out and splendidly constructed design, the Island Gypsy 44 has all the sea-keeping and performance abilities you might hope for in a MY/trawler, all the comfortable, elegant and spacious accommodations you should expect, and all the style and 'presence' you could ask for in a MY/trawler of this size (or just about any other, in my humble opinion!). Better yet, this particular Island Gypsy used to belong to Fred Schaeffer, the founder of Schaeffer Marine Hardware, which means there are custom stainless fittings all over the boat (as you might expect!), as well as custom teak cabinetry and other goodies not found on sisterships! I sold this boat to the current owner to use as a liveaboard for himself and his children, but they have now grown up and moved ashore (one has joined the Marines), and so the owner is looking to sell and buy a smaller trawler that he can single-hand easily (and preclude his kids moving back aboard!). Right now, 'Psyche' is afloat and alongside, but shrink-wrapped for the Winter months so it is difficult to get a view of the outside, but please have a look at some of the photos taken before shrinkwrapping as well as the full specifications to get a good idea of what an excellent purchase opportunity this vessel represents! UPDATE 09/09/07 MAJOR PRICE REDUCTION FROM $269K!!! |
