| Description |
With a 3000 NM range, a hull of double-planked reinforced oak 6 1/2" thick, and a fine record of Arctic charter trips, 'Arctic Janus' just might be the solid expedition yacht you have been looking for! While most 'expedition yachts' marketed today are built of thin steel or fiberglass in a feeble attempt to appear like 'Arctic Janus,' this is definitely the real thing! 'Arctic Janus' was orginally designed and built to be an Arctic patrol, rescue, and navigational aid inspection and maintenance ship for the Danish Maritime Organisation. In service until 1998 primarily in the cold and rough waters of the Arctic Sea along the coast of Greenland, the design of 'Arctic Janus' incorporates a healthy respect for, and protection from ice floes and heavy seas, as only Scandinavian ship builders can do... Under current ownership, 'Arctic Janus' was modified for use as a yacht (new bridge/cargo hold converted to salon, etc.), with occasional charter fishing trips in the Faeroe Islands(currently certified for 12 passengers plus 4 crew for overnight/offshore, or 36 day passengers). Now for sale, 'Arctic Janus' will make a fine expedition yacht for those who truly wish to make expeditions! Please have a look at the full specifications, photos, and detailed layout diagrams to see just what a true expedition yacht is all about!
